40 years of experience

After more than four decades of practice, I have retired from active architectural work and am closing MR Carlson Inc. Throughout my career, beginning with Carlson Studio Architecture in 1997 and continuing in Seattle with M R Carlson Inc., I have been privileged to design projects that reflect my lifelong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community impact. From early residential work to award‑winning civic, educational, healthcare, and commercial projects—including some of Florida’s first and highest‑scoring LEED‑certified buildings—my focus has always been on creating architecture that serves people and the environment. This website now stands as a portfolio and record of that journey, showcasing the breadth of my work and the values that guided it.
